Workshop venue and accommodation |
MIWAI’09 will take place in the conference room at the Mahasarakham University Museum,
on the university’s Khamriang campus on the outskirts of the city. For
accommodation, we recommend the Taksila Hotel, in the centre of town. Transport between the hotel and the workshop venue will be
organised by MIWAI.

How to get there
By air |
For
international visitors, by far the most convenient way to reach
Mahasarakham from Bangkok is to take a flight from Bangkok to Khon
Kaen. (Mahasarakham has no airport of its own.) MIWAI will then provide
a shuttle bus between Khon Kaen airport and Mahasarakham (details to
follow soon). Thai Airways
operates 3 flights daily between Khon Kaen and Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport. |
|
By road |
Mahasarakham
is well connected by bus to most major cities in Thailand. From Bangkok
one can take a bus from Bangkok’s northern bus terminal at Mor Chit.
Journey time is approximately 7 hours. |
|
By train |
It’s
possible to take a train between Bangkok’s Hualamphong Station and Khon
Kaen. However there is only one daily first class train in each
direction. From Bangkok, the train leaves at 8:45pm, arriving Khon Kaen
5:42am. From Khon Kaen the train leaves at 9:05pm, arriving Bangkok
6:25am. There are also some second class trains. Click here for timetable information (the relevant train-line is the “Northeastern”). |
